CES 2025 is a dazzling array of new tech, so I didn’t expect one of my favorite new devices to be a 5G hotspot. Acer’s new Connect M6E 5G mobile Wi-Fi hotspot is just that—a surprisingly great package that’s perfect for anyone who travels about.
Acer Launches New Connect M6E 5G Mobile Hotspot
Acer’s new Connect M6E 5G mobile hotspot ticks all the boxes: support for physical SIM and eSIM, 2×2 MIMO, NFC touch to connect, and, topping it off, Wi-Fi 6E connectivity. You can also connect up to 20 devices simultaneously, which makes it handy to keep in your bag or even take to the office, while the built-in screen makes it easy to navigate the various settings menus.
It has an 8,000mAh battery that will keep the hotspot up and running for 28 hours, and it supports fast charging over USB-C. Furthermore, it’s built to “military-grade standards” (though there are issues with companies using the MIL-STD-810G) and has an IP68 water and dust resistance rating. That means you can submerge the hotspot at up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes—not bad for a portable 5G Wi-Fi router.
The other big feature on this new 5G hotspot is SignalScan. Basically, this tech enables the Connect M6E to jump between 5G networks for different providers and has support for more than 135 countries worldwide.

It might be that I’m writing this at CES 2025, and Wi-Fi is notoriously irritating here, but I’m impressed with Acer’s new unit. What really stands out is the option to load an eSIM onto the Connect M6E and have it connect to a wide range of networks.
